These new ships will arrive in 2019

The number of cruise ships worldwide is growing and growing. In 2019 the new construction boom will pick up speed. The cruise lines will be commissioning 21 newbuildings in 2019.
It is striking that it drives the clientele increasingly in lonely areas: Ten of the new buildings are expedition ships. But there are also new giant pots. Click here for the complete overview in pictures.
With the "Costa Smeralda" and "Costa Venezia" Costa Crociere sends two new ships at the start. The first is the "Costa Venezia" in March, which will serve the Asian market. The transfer from Venice to Tokyo is also bookable for European guests. The "Costa Smeralda" will be the new flagship of the shipping company in Europe. The LNG-powered ship with more than 2600 cabins starts on 20 October 2019 for a first cruise from Hamburg to Savona.
In November 2019, the "Norwegian Encore" (Norwegian Cruise Line), the sister ship of the "Norwegian Bliss", is completed. She will probably also get a spectacular kart track. In the premiere season she travels seven days traveling from Miami to the eastern Caribbean.

On February 9, Tui Cruises christened his next new building in Lisbon. The baptismal journey of the identical sister to the "Mein Schiff 1" starts on 3 February in Bremerhaven. After the first trips on the Canary Islands, the summer will be spent in the western Mediterranean. The new "Mein Schiff 2" can accommodate 2894 passengers. The current, old "Mein Schiff 2" is renamed "Mein Schiff Herz" and remains in the fleet for the time being.
The "Roald Amundsen" (Hurtigruten) should actually be put into service in 2018. But there were delays in construction. So now is expected to start in 2019. It is the world's first expedition ship with hybrid technology. On board there are three restaurants, a fitness and spa area and a bar on the upper deck with whirlpool and infinity pool. All 265 cabins are outside.
So far, Nicko Cruises is especially known to river cruise travelers. Now the company is entering the offshore cruise market with the "World Explorer", which holds a maximum of 200 passengers and positions itself in the luxury segment. Initially, five shipping areas are planned: Nordland, Baltic, Mediterranean, Western Europe and two transatlantic routes. The "World Explorer" is being built by the Portuguese West Sea shipyard. She is expected to travel in the summer of 2019. Thanks to the hybrid drive, she can drive partly electrically.

From the river to the oceans: The river cruise operator Nicko Cruises puts his first ocean-going vessel into service in 2019 with the "World Explorer".
First new construction of Saga Cruises: The "Spirit of Discovery" is being built at Meyer Werft Papenburg.
For expeditions in particular, Ponant is building its new Explorers ships "Le Bougainville" and "Le Dumont dUrville" in 2019.
The "Viking Jupiter" is christened Viking's sixth offshore cruise ship in June 2019. It should be almost identical to its predecessors.
The transfer of the "Costa Venezia" is still bookable for European passengers, then the ship travels almost exclusively with Asians on board.

New Costa flagship: The "Costa Smeralda" can be operated completely with LPG.
The new "Mein Schiff 2" is currently being built at the Meyer shipyard in Turku. It is largely identical to the "Mein Schiff 1", which came in the spring of 2018.

On March 2nd, the second MSC vessel of the Meraviglia class will be christened in Southampton with the "MSC Bellissima". Aboard the 6334-passenger ship, there are two new restaurants, the "L'Atelier Bistrot" and the "Market Street" (Street Food). In addition, there will be two new shows of Cirque du Soleil. The "MSC Bellissima" will also be equipped with a personal voice assistant. Her big sister, the "MSC Grandiosa", is baptized in Hamburg on November 9th. It offers 200 additional cabins. The "MSC Bellissima" first travels in the western Mediterranean, before it goes to the United Arab Emirates. The "MSC Grandiosa" also starts in the western Mediterranean.
In April and October, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises sends two new expedition cruise ships to the seas. The identical sisters "Hanseatic nature" and "Hanseatic Inspiration" offer space for 230 passengers each, Antarctic trips and Spitsbergen circumnavigation there are 199 guests. The large proportion of open deck area is a special feature. On the sundeck there are two extendable glass balconies, on the foredeck the passengers reach all the way to the top of the ship. In addition to trips to the Arctic and Antarctic, the new buildings have the highest ice class for passenger ships – including expeditions to the Amazon, the Chilean fjords and the Great Lakes of North America. In addition to the main restaurant and a bistro with indoor and outdoor area, there is a specialty restaurant: on the "Hanseatic nature" with North American cuisine, on the "Hanseatic inspiration" with Japanese and Peruvian touch.
Two more expedition ships will launch Ponant 2019: In April, the "Le Bougainville", which will initially be in the Mediterranean and then in the Indian Ocean on the road. The "Le Dumont d'Urville" will follow in August. It initially crosses the Baltic Sea. Both ships are identical to the other ships of the Ponant Explorers series. The highlight is an underwater lounge.
Viking's sixth deep-sea cruise ship was christened in June 2019 in Oslo. After that, the "Viking Jupiter" will be traveling for 930 passengers in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
In October 2019 Princess Cruises' "Sky Princess" will be taking off for its premiere ride in the Mediterranean. For the following winter, head to Fort Lauderdale. Among the highlights on board are the multi-storey atrium and an open-air cinema. Two suites of around 140 square meters each have a direct view of the screen.
The "Carnival Panorama" of Carnival Cruise Line is the third ship of the Vista class and will be put into service in December 2019. The maximum of 4008 passengers travel on seven-night tours to the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles. A special attraction on board is the water park "Waterworks".
At the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, the "Spirit of Discovery" is the first new construction of Saga Cruises. On the 999-passenger ship, each cabin has a balcony.
Specifically designed for the Asian market, the "Spectrum of the Seas", the first ship of the new Quantum Ultra class of Royal Caribbean. It can accommodate 4246 passengers and for the first time at Royal Caribbean an exclusive suite area, similar to many ships at MSC or Norwegian Cruise Line. The ship is being built in Meyer Werft Papenburg. The planned delivery is in April 2019, from June start the trips in Asia from Shanghai.
Designed exclusively for the exploration of the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific was the new building of Celebrity Cruises. The maiden voyage of the 100-passenger ship "Celebrity Flora" is scheduled for spring.
Especially in the Arctic and the Antarctic, the "Hondius" will be out and about by Oceanwide Expeditions. A maximum of 174 passengers will find on board, among other things, a complete deck for lectures and presentations. From April 2019, the new expedition ship "Coral Adventurer" from Coral Expeditions will be on the road, especially around Australia. Space offers it for 120 passengers.
Especially in the Antarctic, the new expedition ship "Magellan Explorer" by Antarctica XXI will be used. Special feature: In eight-day so-called Air Cruises passengers are spared the often uneasy crossing from Argentina to the Antarctic. Instead, guests from Punta Arenas in Patagonia fly to King George Island. The maximum capacity of the ship of 100 passengers is never exhausted: more than 69 passengers should not be on board.
